What is Moonlit Alchimia?
Moonlit Alchimia is an independent dark wax atelier based in Italy, creating handcrafted wax melts, illustrated pillar candles and unusual decorative objects in small batches.
Each piece is inspired by gothic imagery, old curiosities, folklore, ritual and the beauty found in the strange.
Are your products handmade?
Yes. Every Moonlit Alchimia piece is prepared and finished by hand in small batches.
Because of the handmade process, slight variations in colour, texture, weight or finish may occur. These small differences are part of the character of each piece and make every creation slightly unique.
What are your wax melts made from?
Our wax melts are made with 100% coconut wax and carefully blended with fragrance.
Product-specific ingredients and fragrance information can be found on each individual product page.
How do I use wax melts?
Place one wax melt, or a suitable portion of one, into the dish of a wax burner designed specifically for wax melts.
Use the burner according to the manufacturer's instructions and allow the wax to melt slowly, releasing the fragrance into the room.
Never add water to the wax and never leave a burner unattended while in use.
Can I reuse melted wax?
Yes. Wax can usually be reheated several times until the fragrance has faded.
Once the wax no longer releases scent, allow it to cool completely before removing it from the burner and replacing it with a fresh melt.
Are the illustrated pillar candles scented?
Some Moonlit Alchimia pillar candles are created primarily as illustrated decorative candles and may be unscented.
The individual product page will always indicate whether a candle contains fragrance.
Can I actually burn the illustrated pillar candles?
Yes. They are functional candles as well as decorative objects.
Before lighting, always remove all packaging, paper, labels and decorative materials surrounding the candle.
Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface and keep the wick trimmed to approximately 5 mm.
Because pillar candles naturally change shape as they burn, always use a suitable candle plate or holder to catch melted wax.
Will the illustration change when the candle burns?
Eventually, yes.
The printed artwork forms part of the candle's exterior and will naturally change as the candle burns down.
Many customers choose to display their pillar candle decoratively before lighting it.
How should I care for my candle?
Keep candles away from direct sunlight, excessive heat and moisture.
Before each burn:
- trim the wick to approximately 5 mm
- place the candle on a heat-resistant surface
- keep it away from drafts
- keep it away from curtains, paper and other flammable materials
- never leave a burning candle unattended
- keep away from children and pets
Why does my product look slightly different from the photographs?
Moonlit Alchimia products are handmade rather than mass-produced.
Small variations in wax texture, colour, botanical placement, illustration positioning or finish may naturally occur.
Product photography may also appear slightly different depending on lighting and screen settings.
These variations are not considered defects.
How are Moonlit Alchimia products packaged?
Every order is carefully prepared by hand with packaging designed to reflect the Moonlit Alchimia universe while protecting the products during transit.
Selected pillar candles are wrapped in dark paper and finished with their individual Moonlit Alchimia label.
Packaging may vary slightly depending on the item and order size.
Where are your products made?
All Moonlit Alchimia creations are handcrafted in Italy.
Are your products suitable as gifts?
Absolutely.
Moonlit Alchimia pieces are designed to feel like small curiosities and collectible objects, making them suitable for birthdays, housewarmings, Halloween, gothic gifts or simply as something unusual for someone special.
How strong are the fragrances?
Fragrance perception is very personal and can vary depending on the scent, room size, ventilation and the type of burner being used.
Our wax melts are designed to create an atmospheric fragrance rather than overpower the room.
How should I store wax melts?
Keep wax melts in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
Keeping them in their original packaging will also help protect the fragrance until you are ready to use them.
